Government Aim To Implement Online Services By 2020

Recently, I came across with the news that the government targets 90 per cent of government services to be online by 2020. Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) Mampu director-general Datuk Mohamad Zabidi Zainal said it aimed to implement the use of Internet technology across all ministries and hoped to have 35 per cent of services available online by next year and 50 per cent by 2015.

He said that the customers today demand fast transactions and one of the ways that they can deliver this is through Internet technology. Currently the government agencies had benefited from its E-filing, E-registration and Electronic Stamp Duty Assessment and Payment System. The objective is to achieve its goal of paperless transactions.

According to the news that I have read, Mampu has published a 50-pages manual, Business Process Reengineering Manual for Public Sector Agencies, as a guide for government agencies to evaluate their existing service mechanism and improve services by digitalising processes. Mampu has made the effort to enable all the government agencies by providing the manual online which can be downloaded from http://www.mampu.gov.my/.

One of the agencies that has implement part of the process is The Federal Territory Land and Mines Department. They had reducing the process of applying for land ownership from four months to one month. The agency was also currently testing out a MyForms system for the public to send in their information and applications online, once it was put in place, it would cut short application processing time from one day to 15 minutes.

The agency had handled about RM400 million in land tax payments last year, which was more than the targeted RM221 million, due to online payment methods made available and other incentives. The percentage of the public paying land taxes online had increased by four per cent last year when compared with 2009. Research has been made by the agency and it could also be attributed to the agency's initiative in offering a 10 per cent discount to those who settled their payments within the first month.

From my point of view, there will be pro and cons of implementing government services online. We will benefit the most especially in doing transaction online provided that there is a good security services by the government as well. What we need to do is to keep pace with the latest technology available in the net and learn fast to adapt with the changes.

What I can see here is that, the  Government will continue to prioritise the concerns of the 'rakyat' in its strategic initiatives in year 2012 through the implementation of the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and 10th Malaysian Plan (10 MP).

Disney Digital 3D Movies

I just can't compromise when comes to cartoon movies. It is my fav and passion. I love to watch cartoons movies and the satisfaction come the most when I watch it in 3D. I don't know how to describe it but only people who loves and appreciate cartoons can have that kind of feelings..Am I rite Prof?

Here, I want to share a little bit about Disney Digital 3D Cartoon Movies which few of them watched. It is my first exploration in 3D and I like it very much!! Few source from the internet helps me a lot in writing this article that i want to share in my blog for my MIS 750 entries (thanx Mr. Google). It will be added more soon when latest information gathered.

isney Digital 3-D is a brand used by the Walt Disney Company to describe three-dimensional films made and released by the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and shown exclusively using digital projection.
Disney Digital 3-D is not a presentation nor a production format or technology. Films advertised as Disney Digital 3-D come from a number of sources, film, digital camera as well as animation software, and can be presented using any digital 3D technology, including RealD, Dolby 3D, XpanD 3D and MasterImage 3D. The first movie using this brand for advertising was Chicken Little, released in North America on November 4, 2005. For the release, Disney collaborated with Real D to install RealD's 3D digital projection system featuring Christie CP2000 2K DLP projectors along with silver screens for 84 screens in US theaters.

On May 29, 2009, Disney·Pixar released Up, the first Pixar film to be presented in 3D. It was then followed by a 3D double feature re-release of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on October 2, 2009, although neither of these films' animation was altered. As a result, subsequent Pixar films, such as Toy Story 3 and Cars 2, were released in Disney Digital 3D. The most recent title in the brand is Cars 2, released in June 2011.

have just watched Cars 2 recently, and it is almost the real movie as the animation is superb and the starting is just like Agent 007 - Mission Impossible. The background music and surround is very nice. Congratulations to Pixar Films for creating these kind of story and I do hope that more films will coming up in 3D soon.

There  are comments from viewers that they think the 3D trend needed to end, including Disney re-releases. Recently Disney had came out with the Lion King 3D re-release. So, they are wondering  if people would change their mind for a certain Disney movies that seem better to see in 3D, like the more modern Pixar movies, or they just realized that the fun of seeing a classic movie on the big screen is worth it, even if the 3D seems silly?

Oh no. As for me I am really enjoy watching cartoons and the excitement is to watch it in 3D. That is why we need 3D rite? Anyway, I am more appreciate on the technology innovation applied to those movies no matter it is a classic movies. It is the art and science behind it. The effort made by Disney and Pixar cannot be denied. I would enjoy this so much more and it will be more exciting when it is in Blue-Ray! Yeeaahhaaaa..!!!

BlackBerry Services Affected, But Not Another Outage

Checkout this latest news! I picked up from the IDG News and it become more difficult for me now to decide in buying my new phones. Anyway, there is a pro and cons when you are in the middle of buying things. Looking forward for anybody that can advise me in choosing a better phones. I am really appreciate for your sharing and experience as I have no idea to choose either Blackberry or Iphone or just stick to my old oudated phones and buy a Tablet?? Aaahaaa...

IDG News Service By John Ribeiro - Research In Motion said on Wednesday that it was investigating reports from some users who were experiencing delays.
"There is no system-wide outage, however we are investigating reports that some users in EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa) have experienced delays," RIM said in a statement.
The company said in an update later on Wednesday that services were operating normally in EMEIA, but did not provide details of what had caused the problem.
The service issue comes about a month after the company had outages of up to four days across North America, Latin America, and EMEIA.
RIM said last month that the service interruption was caused by a failure of a core switch within its infrastructure. Although the system was designed to failover to a backup switch, the failover did not function as previously tested, creating a large backlog of data that RIM had to clear.
The company faces a possible class action suit in Canada, demanding a refund of users' data plan charges during the outage.
A number of users on Wednesday reported problems with the BlackBerry service. One user said she and four other friends were getting slow responses, particularly on BlackBerry Messenger (BBM). Another user said "BlackBerry is disappointing right now" as BBM wasn't working properly.
The development comes a day after Google said it was pulling the plug on a native Gmail app for BlackBerry. The Internet giant said that from Nov. 22 it will end support for the Gmail App for BlackBerry, and has focused its efforts on building a great Gmail experience in the mobile browser.
Users may continue to use the app, if installed, but it will not be supported by Google, or available for download from Nov. 22. BlackBerry users can continue to access Gmail through the mobile web app at gmail.com in their BlackBerry web browser, Google said in a blog post on Tuesday.

I was looking at the Maxis Plan for the blackberry yesterday, I was about to buy the phones but something had pondered me and yes..my heart said its okey for me to wait for a while waiting for another offerings. Hehehee..Not to deny that I am a choosy person in terms of buying things. I need a phones that can support me in many ways and less hassle please..

We are near to end of the year..and it will be a Grand Sale soon..so, I am very sure that more gadgets will be revealed and more plans will be offered by the telco to ensure that people like us will enjoy the products and becoming more 'celik' on the latest IT gadgets, service and apps..

5 Reasons Why Every Small Business Needs a Website

Hi all,  its my 2nd entry. Actually I have uploaded all the etries earlier but yet to published. As we are required by our dedicated AP Dr. Norzaidi to comment or post our view relating to the IT topics. So, it was all in my Draft Posting List afterall. Hehehe..

All businesses should have a website these days.  Yes, ALL of them.  Last year I had attended a website short course and during that time I believe there were cases where a website wasn’t necessary. At that time, I wasn’t completely convinced that all businesses needed a web presence.  The Internet had made it pretty obvious that a website can be an asset to any business.  An asset maybe, but a necessity? Well, maybe not.  At least I believed that until one day (which is now..) when I needed to do a blog, most of small businesses are actually don' have a website.

Here are few reasons adapted from my source and this is base on the author's experience about having a website.
1) Competition
This is one of the strongest  reasons to have a website.  You know your competitors have a website.  I mean not only your local  business but  also manufacturers and online sellers use websites as a way to communicate with existing and potential customers. It doesn’t mean that all of your competitors have a web presence but probably at least one nearby has a website!  Don’t lose customers to them!  If you are local, adding a printable map showing your location is a great convenience for your customer.

2) Convenience
If you have printed business cards and have a stack of them sitting on your counter, think of a website as your new digital business card. If a customer misplaces your printed business card then they can conveniently find you when you have a web presence. They will be able to get even more information about you and your business that could never fit on your paper business card.  Just imagine if someone asks one of your customers for a recommendation. Don’t you want to be the one who is recommended? It would be great if your customer said, “I don’t have their business card but you can visit their website!”

3) Credibility.
I’m sure you’ve heard a professional looking website provides you with your first chance at making a good impression on a customer.  A website shows that you are committed to your business and the customer is important to you. You might find that customers are more willing to do business with you because you have a website. Think of it as making that website investment for THEM!

4) Build Relationships
You can find value in having an online presence by building relationships with customers via your website by sending them monthly emails or newsletters to stay in touch.  It is easier to get people to visit your website and understand about your business. It is also a great customer service tool where customers can reach you 24 hours a day, any day of the week, by e-mail. Replying to their emails is a great way to develop a relationship with them! Building relationships in business through a website gives you a strong advantage.

5) Advertising.
A website can be a very inexpensive form of advertising. You can offer your customers much more information about your products or services on a website than other forms of advertising. You can make changes —seasonal or monthly changes reflected with  photos or prices or have weekend specials.  The sky is the limit!  You can send emails and publicize sales and special offers.  What about an online limited offer?  What a fantastic way of showcasing your business and keeping customers!

Having a website is a great way to be able to communicate important information to the customers. It’s like a silent partner, providing an easy way for the customers to learn about you and your business. If you want more customers, these reasons demonstrate how customers and websites can produce amazing results together.  A website provides a great opportunity to expand your business.  I hope you will consider creating one today.

How Do You Use Twitter for Business To Engage Your Audience?

This is my first post relating to my MIS 750 subjects. I feel sorry for myself for not starting earlier as my working conditions require me to committ with the current task given by the management. My company is in the process of fulfilling the legal due diligence request for IPO listing. InsyaAllah I will try at my level best to fill up my blog with 5 entries as required.

Everyone seems to have a Twitter handle these days:  News reporters, celebrities, restaurants, friends, and your business contacts.  Twitter usage has skyrocketed to over 100 million active accounts.  Moreover, this dynamic social medium can be the X factor for business. A game-changer, Twitter offers people the ability to strategically build and leverage their business brand.

While Twitter’s audience continues to grow in popularity, many businesses have not harnessed its power. One possible reason many companies are not adopting or mastering the tool: Twitter is not intuitive.  Few of us are immune from inertia and resisting new ways; but oftentimes once we have concrete steps to follow, we feel we can do almost anything.  So before you add Twitter to your things to do “whenever” list, ask yourself this question, “Can I afford not to give it a try?”

Below articles I got it from the internet. The reference is reflected at the bottom of this topic. I think this is a good article for our knowledge as it can be one of business networking process.

Engaging Your Customers

Depending on the nature of the business and goals, companies use Twitter effectively in different ways.  Although, fundamentally, the common denominator is that they are actively “engaging” with customers and building communities.  By not engaging, businesses risk squandering great opportunities to build desired brand awareness and perceptions, and shape their marketing messages. Yet, one of the biggest mistakes many enterprises make is that they start using Twitter without first assessing their situation and identifying aims.  Before you start tweeting, you should carefully think through and determine the specific goals that work best for your business.  See list below:

15 Key goals and objectives for businesses using Twitter:

  1. Generating awareness and leads
  2. Servicing customers
  3. Expanding reach and creating buzz
  4. Sharing thought-leadership & participating in industry conversation
  5. Gaining competitive intelligence
  6. Monitoring your brand’s reputation in real time
  7. Building relationships with community
  8. Distributing rich, SEO content
  9. Offering special discounts, white papers, eBooks
  10. Crowdsourcing ideas, products, etc.
  11. Finding, cultivating influencers and brand advocates
  12. Obtaining customer feedback on potential or new offerings
  13. Developing relationships with bloggers and journalists for PR
  14. Recruiting for freelancers or permanent hires
  15. Establishing brand leadership position by communicating, reinforcing vision, purpose, differentiation, relevance, etc.
Requiring no more than 140 characters (in a tweet) for interaction, Twitter can be used on PCs and mobile devices. It has become one of the largest platforms in the world for sharing real-time data.  According to a recent report by Pew Internet & American Life Project, more than half (54%) of Twitter users access their service on a cell phone.  Small business owners can use a Twitter app to communicate, engage, network, share and drive their business forward.

A Survey by the Author...

Tom Pick - Online Marketing Executive at KC Associates.
“Just as many of your customers are probably on Twitter, so are your prospects. They care far less about your advertising than about what your customers are saying about you, and how you respond. An active Twitter presence enables you to demonstrate strong customer service, rather than just claiming you offer it (after all, who advertises poor customer service?).”

Ted Rubin Chief Social Marketing Officer -Collective Bias and Social Marketing Strategist – MARS Advertising
“Tweet to keep your brand on your followers’ radar, to answer questions, to provide value… to build relationships! Remember… trust is built upon interaction, when you’re true to your word, authentic, and genuine. To build relationships, you (as a brand or individual) have to engage, interact and be responsive.”

Jamie Crager - Founder of CROWDSHIFTER Media
“It can be as simple as retweeting someone, asking questions and mentioning them in a positive way. You can gain valuable insights that will lead you to ‘knowing’ your audience so you can provide the best content that adds value to their business and lives. Not only will this create wonderful friendships and a loyal fan base, but opens opportunities in a wide variety of ways for you to grow your business & income.”

Gini Dietrich - Chief Executive Officer – Arment Dietrich, Inc.
“We use Twitter to network, build relationships, and stay top-of-mind, both with prospects and current clients. It has allowed us to become further integrated into our client’s businesses instead of being seen just as that firm that helps us execute some things that aren’t always tangible. It has contributed to more than half of our new business this year. As well, it’s our number three driver of traffic to Spin Sucks. We’re big Twitter advocates!”

Brian Rice - Sr. Marketing Manager, SAP Global Social Media Marketing
“The value of Twitter for businesses is the ability to listen to and engage in real-time conversations with prospects and customers.  In order to be successful, you must focus on adding value to the conversations and humanizing the brand through one-to-one interactions that help to establish thought leadership.”

Above are a survey made by the author from the view of a business people. Anyway using twitter help the business people to get more customers in the wholeworld and let them know what kind of products that they offer. Instead they can get instant feedbacks and comments relating to their products therefore it is an encouragement for them to upgrade or expand their current businesses.

As for me it is an encouragement for those who are in business to use Twitter for their businesses. It is fun and for a new learner it is a one step ahead to be more updated with the IT nowadays. Have fun!
